The Water Highway

The Water Highway

Good day Bravehearts

Feel the rush of the wind as it sweeps across the land, bringing the scents of summer fragrance to fill your mind. The aromatherapy of the earth. Pine, juniper, spring meadows and wild grasses. The smell of the forest with mosses and flowers. The cool shade of trees and the rich, enticing landscape. Venture forth, oh brave ones, the wild calls you.
The dance and play of rushing streams, the life force of rivers, and the clean, superb, land, with it’s sport and leisure. The health of the nation lies in this landscape. So much to do, in sport, in leisure, in adventure and in education. Out into the great land, for health and fitness, for rest and for meditation.
The wild! Every day adventure for the uncommon lives of the people of this country.
The rushing rivers cast their spell. The voyage by raft will take you into the great unknown. A wild river, a rushing torrent, a wet and wild and chilly adventure. The current sweeps you into the middle, to rapids and whirlpools and eddies. The diving and swirling craft dips and heaves as the pounding water floods its sides and plunges it into holes and narrowly past rocks and waterfalls.
Fun!
The whitewater raft ride of todays enjoyment is a link to the waterways of yesteryear. David Thompson, with his raft piled high with furs, transported his earnings through the Canadian waterway highways. A nation of river exploration. A nation of wilderness exploration. A nation of markets and trade.

http://www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/ canoe

The waterways were the highways of trade. Plied for transportation, for convenience, for travel and for adventure. The past time of canoing and boating serves us well, as we venture deeper and deeper into the heart of the land.
Summer! The pristine blue lakes of summer fun. The cooling, quenching waters of joy! The days of lazy dreaming in beaches of sand and grass, the pearls of seashells washed ashore, the endless waves, lapping the shore. The joys of clean, cool water as is soothes the hot and tired body. Fresh water for swimming. Clean water, for a cool summer swim.
The water. A gateway into the heart of the land and a pathway to endless summer fun. Ply the waters with your sturdy craft, maneuver into the surging current. Your paddle dips to the rhythm of your partners beat and the drums of your heartbeat set the pace. Onward. Onward. The constant motion moving the craft. The skills of your paddling, pushing you on. The lakes, the rivers, the water trade routes. A past time of pleasure, where yesterday meets us. The voyage of discovery to new lands, new people, new trade and new wealth.

http://www.birchbarkcanoe.net/video-canoe.htm

A home of opportunity waiting for discovery.
The ancient art of boats and river travel, of discovery of land and people. We travel with our forefathers in a journey that never ends, to a destination that stretches on. We fill our days with summer fun, in a land of sweeping landscapes and the water. The water highway.

The Fishing Hole

Food. Fill your stomachs and ease the pangs of poverty. Cast your nets and fill your boats with the precious catch of the day.
For thousands of years the oceans have filled our plates with free food, a commodity of substance and wealth from the planet. The nets cast into the seas, to draw the needed food source from its home in the high water. The oceans provide and the human soars with the advantage of free food for the hungry. No starvation, no poverty. The seas give up their glorious catch and the evils of hunger subside.
An expectation of success fills our minds. The ocean has always provided for us, this is our right and our lifestyle. Our livelihood and our culture. Many nations survive from the oceans and the plunder of the deep waters reduces the catch to a fragment of what it once was. The crisis for the oceans rises and the plight of the wildlife within it, screams for the efforts of conservationist around the world. Oil spills, contamination, pollutants, over fishing. The perils of the oceans calls to us as the human mind reels in the wake of yet another catastrophe that leaves our planet dead.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxacxShp3LY overfishing – the consequences.

The rights to fish the oceans have been undenied since mankind cast his nets and lines into the sea and returned triumphant with yet another tasty meal. So easy, so little effort, a hook, a line and bait and then to the fishing hole. Young and old remember their days, drifting in easy summer weather, with baited hook and happy smiles, as the waters reveal a dinner or two, to the patient fisherman.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDAC33InIHs ending overfishing

Fishing the deep has been an easy joy for us. The lakes and oceans produce an amazing number of fish and other water inhabitants. Crustaceans and eels, fish and whale, shellfish and turtles. The water is fun and filled with life. For a day at the beach and a day on the water nurture us with sun and summer care. The carefree days of endless sunshine, the powerful waves as they crest and splash and entice us into the water for summer play. The life and the living that the oceans bring us, not only back from the brink of starvation, but to a new purpose in sport, leisure, games and holidaying. The oceans and lakes give us undeniable joy.
Bountiful great waters, our cups overflow with gladness, for the discovery of the mysteries of the deep. Ocean songs and ocean conquest, ships and adventure, the great seas call to all of us as sailors and fishermen and the marvel of our days on the decks of sailboats, casting our lines and unfurling the sails, gives us freedom and the thrill of adventure.
Four hundred years ago, at the dawn of European time in Canada, came an expedition to the coast of Canada, to fish the great waters of the grand banks of Newfoundland.  The fishing was superb!  Cast your nets and take home a catch of fishes to save the starving peasants back home.  Cast your nets and be saved.  The catch is your income, your food source, your work and your daily bread. The fishing was superb and from this came the endless voyages of fishermen bound for a harvest of ocean gold.  Food!  Made from the planet, where no one shall starve.
7 billion.
To traverse the great Atlantic ocean in search of a food source out fished in Europe, was the means to an end of hunger and poverty.  400  years ago the population of Europe was substantially smaller, but the need to traverse the ocean for food was already a pressing concern.  Feed the hungry.  The ocean is called upon to provide.  Fishes for the ever climbing hungry of the world.  Food.
Still the demand is upon the ocean, to fill the needs of the hungry as our population climbs and soars. Still, the ocean, with it’s free and bountiful harvest of fish. Still the human calls to the planet, feed us!

Breathe

Breathe

Good morning, you awesome human

Breathe! Do you feel it? The breath you take, filling your lungs with life giving oxygen. No small miracle to dismiss or ignore, the life giving oxygen passes through your airways into your lungs and saves you once more. Breathe! The powerful breath of life giving force that sustains you.
They say that there is less oxygen in the world today. That the force of the natural world has declined and that the air that we breathe is no longer as fresh and nutritious as it once was. Air, with nutrient rich oxygen that fills our bodies and blood stream with it’s vital life force. Air, that rejuvenates our brains and fills the mind with nutrient rich oxygen. Air, so commonplace, so taken for granted, so needed and precious. Air, a simple natural substance that we die for.
In the world, the deforestration of the forest has hacked its way to less wildlife habitat, less jungle and forest, less vegetation and less air. Air pollution contaminates the air we breathe and causes disease.
The great planet, with its intricate web of life, looses it’s diversity as species cry in mortal danger from habitat loss and planetary destruction.
The polluted waterways suffocate the aquatic species that call it their home. The raging torrents of rain, fill the lakes and contaminate the soil with polluted droplets of water. The rich bio-diversity of the planet declines and the numbers of species fall to dismally low levels. The awesome, creative planet is plundered, and it’s richness of life forms perish, in the assault of human over population. 7 billion. 7 billion, and rising.

http://www.wizetime.com/trees-it-takes-22-trees-to-produce-enough-oxygen-for-you-to-breath/

The great forests that swept the massive landscape are harvested and vanish in the wake of plunder. Plunder for wood, for clearing the land, for penetrating the tangle of un passable vegetation. The forest lies at the brink of its own starvation. Fewer trees, less vegetation, the wild flowers nod their brilliant heads and their abundance declines with over picking and habitat loss. Fewer flowers, less fragrance, less colour and life in the forest. Another trampled flower, too delicate to withstand the weight of an intruder. Trampled, crushed, gone.
The brilliant earth, cast it’s creativity as far as the eye can see. Streams and mountains, forest and plains, the painstaking effort to fill the planet with life and wonder.

http://www.arborday.org/trees/benefits.cfm what is a tree worth?

Awesome planet, of wonder and life, your forests thrive with the wealth of the living. Trees for oxygen, animals to protect the wild places, flowers for the beauty of the earth. So powerful! The creative energy of the earth is the life force that saves us. Awesome planet, so wonderful to behold.
Still, the needs of the human are high. More hunger, more habitation, more pollution, more space for us. The forest can’t sustain the needs of the human. Too many bodies, too many stomachs to fill, too many lungs for air.
What is a tree worth, in dollars and sense? For the amount of air that we breath in a lifetime? So commonplace, not a penny to charge and worth more than all of the money that your bank accounts can provide.
Air. Clean, unpolluted air is provided to you, by the great planet, free of charge.

Air, oh awesome human. Fresh, clean air. It’s to die for.

It Calls Us

It Calls Us

Hail to the almighty human!

The awesome planet sings the praises of its being. The life springs forth from the rich earth and the world sings with the songs of spring. A paradise of co-habitation, plant, human, animal, contained in a small space of grand proportions. Life, live and joy in this great part of the earth, where all things live in the beauty of the great landscape. The majesty of the magnificent mountains, the lush, green forest, the sparkling waters and the clean, mountain air. This is the land of the almighty human, where athletes soar in competition and sport. A playground of adventure where the trails lead to precious views of unrivaled beauty, and the mountains dare the climbers to try them.
“Come!” calls the great planet. “Come to the joy of your being!

http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/ab/banff/index.aspx the nation’s first National Park, Banff National Park, established in 1885

Test your strength oh brave hearts! Stretch your legs in the vast wilderness of parkland that entices you. Listen to the call of the wild, as it sweetly sings in your ears.
The birds call their courtship melody as we pass by their homes. Busy and intent, they build their private homes to protect the precious, demanding lives of their offspring. Soon there will be babies. Soon the roadsides will be bustling with delighted tourists, as they meet the wild and their wild new born. The brave bear with its tiny young, the sheep and goats with their nimble kids, and the deer and elk with their calves. Soon the wild will give birth, and the land will change to a robust new beginning.
The quiet of winter is past and for the next few months a new generation of life unfolds.
“Come to the wild!” calls the great planet. “Here the world of the daring adventure begins!”
Since the dawn of our beginning, the wild of the earth calls to us. The mighty oceans demand a crossing. The pinnacles of mountain tops, demand to be reached. The forest lures us to views, and challenges the senses with unknown obstacles.
“Reach for this height!” calls the mighty glacier, where the well waters of our rivers are born. Now, in the spring, when the world is divine, when the congenial planet warms us with warm, spring breezes and the deep chill of winter is past, now we venture forth into the land that was too precarious in the winter.
This is the land of the almighty human. The land, brought to us by the daring fur trader, the skilled negotiator and the kind and compassionate human who saves it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5NW3h6_VYw the bluest lakes on earth, by David Huting

The land whispers to us as we pass under the branches of the greening trees. Hail brave hearts, protect these great lands, for you and only you, can save it. The adventure of your lives has always been in the great forests, the great landscape and the great wild of this nation. The great peace is among us, the great negotiation of land and people, of adventure and fun, of wealth and beauty. Remember the past, oh brave hearts, the negotiation saves us still.

Dear Mothers

Dear Mothers

Good morning Brave hearts

The celebration of life and love is a gift to you on the day that we celebrate mothers.
Dear mothers, a moment of your time, a life of care and nurturing, a protector, a supporter and a keeper of our memories. Our childhood moments of daring and brilliance, of adventure and imagination, of creativity and spontaneity. For us, the passing of time as we learn and explore. For our mothers, the moments of cherished memories of a child, so young and adored, so carefully nurtured. A being, brought into her life, with a purpose and destiny of it’s own.
Dear mothers, the light of that life dawns in the early morning and persists until the evening quiet and dark. The time consuming effort of endless hours spent in loving and hugging and kissing the infant. The demanding child, so
needing and fragile. The reward, to be a lifetime of gifted human love and compassion.
Dear mothers, you rock the cradle and the world listens, as you proclaim your love for your offspring. Happy child, nurtured child, hurt or brooding, the humanity persists in zealous comforting. Rich or poor, the mother gives whatever she is capable of giving. The constant demands of society, to raise this child to its potential. The demand to fulfill the duty, to herself, the family, to the socially accepted norm.
Dear mothers, the matrimonial pledge extends even moreso to the child, in sickness or in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do us part. The child is that part of us that we can’t let go of, that can’t be erased or replaced. That sums of money don’t equal, that can’t be negotiated, that’s carved in stone. Nurture and care, oh wise ones. The world is watching, and your precious offspring are your major calling.
Dear mothers, as you watch the growing child, with pride for their achievements, for always getting up after a fall, for forever running and playing, studying and befriending, the growing human becoming an adult. The work, the devotion, the endless play and support, the all time consuming act of nurture and love, to be lavished upon this blessing, this child.
Dear mothers, it never ends. The child grows and becomes an adult, a champion in your eyes. The effort was painless, the life so fulfilling, a reward just to meet your aquaintance. Mother and child, a bond never ending, a life time of companionship, of conversation, of devotion and care.

We’re celebrating Mother’s Day all wrong according to holiday’s founder

Now mother, we look upon you with praise and adoration, with gratitude for affection, for time and for energy, for teaching, for nurturing and for love. The time spent surpasses the endless days of endless chores, of duty, of routine, of work and social demands. The time spent in teaching, in learning, in conversation and in play. For in mother there is beauty and grace, knowledge and skill, intelligence and love.

So on this day, dear mother, we praise you and thank you. A day set aside for you.
Happy Mother’s Day.

Spring Beauty

Spring Beauty

Good morning Brave hearts

The slow passing of winter, when the earth sheds its cover of the protecting layer of snow, to reveal the tiny shoots of green below. The generation of life, of another season of promise, of hope that the earth will care for us again and fulfill its duty to feed us.
Dutiful planet, the demands of mankind are high. Climate change encroaches and what once was, has become the unknown. Weather patterns interupt our plans, the cycle of change is no longer so predictable. The earth is moving more slowly to sheds its winter garments and to thaw its freezing soils. Tiny seeds, put into the ground, promise of a food source for healthy living. The garden is the source of organic vegetables, fruit bearing trees and shrubs providing healthy, nutritious food. The garden is the source of food production, of an escape to the quiet of your own making. Centuries old man has cultivated his garden for food, pleasure, entertainment and quiet. The garden is a joy! That one small plot of well tended, well cared for space, is an enhancement to our lives.
The joy of the green grass, the tiny buds of leaves and flowers, getting ready to bedazzle us with their showy finery. A jewel of precious colour, the flower competes for the attention of the pollinators. Showy cloaks of marvelous design, fabulous colour, an array of height, size and fragrance. A dazzling performance of non stop delight, as the earth introduces its beautiful performers. Early spring flowers, nodding and waving, in the cool spring breezes, greet us with colour and charm. The earth sends us its shoots of promise and the early flowers, dance and wave and greet us with their nodding heads.
“Hail mankind!” calls the planet. “The spring is late, but it is here! Behold, my dazzling beauties, with their freshly painted gowns, their sensual perfumes and their welcoming waving. I’ve sent my early troops to provide a paradise for you. A paradise of colour, fragrance and spring music.”
“Hail mankind, sighs the aging planet, spring has come! For I am weary and aging, but I still live and love and reproduce, and send my offspring to the surface for your comfort and joy!”
“Yes!”, calls the planet, “I will save you again!”
The deep chill of winter is passing and the warmth of the sun has cast its heat to the earth and the land creeps out from under it’s warm, winters’ blanket. The hibernating animals come forth, seeking the fresh spring air and the fresh new produce. Food! Organic, nutritious food, for the hungry wildlife, prepared and served by the planet. Organic delights of greening grasses, new shoots of tender spring growth. The great wild is coming forth, and it is with relief that we count their presence.
The calling birds sing and flock to us, their melody of song ringing in our ears. Fortunate human, to hear the music of the planet, to taste the wonderful produce of the garden. Spring is upon us and the joy of living resounds throughout the world.

The New Planet

The New Planet

Hail Brave hearts!

This glorious day of the risen lord brings peace and hope to a weary world.
The earth moans under the weight of 7 billion humans. All of the rest of its creation needs room to grow. Room for trees and plants and landscapes, room for animals and birds and insects. The awesome creative powers of the planet need to be expressed. Like the fine aptitude of an artist, needing to paint a brilliant canvas, the earth needs to cover it’s surfaces with beauty and colour and life. Awesome great planet with life giving forces. The beautiful great planet surrounds us with nature. Each and every delicate balance, a life sustaining act. The trees, recycling the carbon dioxide of our breaths and returning fresh, clean oxygen into the air. The trees, our life support system for clean air. 7 billion breathing humans, destroying forests, up routing plants, filling in ponds, covering the earth with pavement, building, building, building.
Hail, you awesome human! The earth struggles to support you, struggles to feed and nurture you, struggles to provide air for you, clean water and good food. The self destructive human, unthinking in it’s quest for income, housing and land, destroys the very thing that provides the most. Hail, to the almighty human, who protects the only thing that we have in the universe, the mighty great planet earth.
So much taken for granted, so much destroyed for no reason, so much loss of habitat and loss of life, human, wildlife, plant life. From the tops of the mountains to the depth of the oceans, the environmental destruction is severe.
In myth, the world of the gods lies in the heavens, in science fiction aliens inhabit other planets. In reality, will that save us here. The awesome mind of science tells us that there is a possibility of life on other planets. The constant search of the heavens and the universe for life sustaining planets, challenges us to think outside of this small, rotating sphere of life and look to the possibilities of new life among the stars. Our imagination takes us in leaps of wonder and anticipation. Could it be real? Could we live somewhere else? What would it be like?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/earth-sized-planet-found-in-star-s-habitable-zone-1.2613794 The new planet.

Now,at last, there is a possibility. An earth like planet, found only 500 light years away. We could escape this rotting, dying, war torn, diseased, overpopulated earth and escape into our spaceships and be gone! Gone to the heavens, gone to the perils of the universe, into the last great frontier of human experience. We’ve done it all here. The dying planet entertains us no more.
Off to the greatest challenge of our lives! Off to discover the universe and inhabit the new world. Like our ancestors before us, the age of discovery is upon us. Like Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Francis Drake and the Apollo Astronauts, we can pack our bags and venture forth again. Into the great unknown, to prove that the universe is not flat, but we can navigate it and we will not fall off.
Hail, to you almighty human! Flee the dying planet and explore the universe. You only have 500 light years to go.

The fine estate

Hail brave hearts

Imagine the grand oasis of your own pristine estate, a secure place, a refuge from the world and the prying eyes of curious by standers. A place for your family, your whole family, brothers, sisters, parents, husbands, wives and children. The whole family, housed in one place where they can live and play together.
Shut out the world and the prying gossips, the insistent intrusion into your peaceful world.
Choose your palace, oh brave hearts and secure your family in a safe space.
The family has been torn and dismembered, wracked by divorce and abuse. The family is becoming a distant memory, of far flung people, irreconcilable differences and domestic dispute.
Who intrudes there, oh wise ones? Love protects you and love will save you.
The family is the focal point of your existence, all of your support comes from an intelligent, supportive family who helps to nurture friendships and life long relationships. The family nurtures and cares, builds self-esteem and character. A strong, congenial family, survives all obstacles in their cohesive, support for one another.
The family builds it’s own character, self-esteem and potential. They take care of each other, young and old, rich and poor. The oppressive negativity that surrounds you and reduces your peace and harmony can be controlled. The negative influence of outside sources can be reduced and the family can heal their wounds, their hearts and their souls.
Protect yourselves, brave hearts, you are all that you have. A strong and united family can heal each other and expel the pain of difficulty and abuse. The family, with their morals intact, will bind and build. Secure your fortress, nurture and care.
Hail to you, almighty ones. The strength of your lives resides in the strength of strong family, a cohesive network of friendly relationships and caring interactions.
The great good earth provides a place for all of us to dwell. A place for peace and prosperity, a place to care for the earth itself.
On your fine estate, let the earth breath it’s soft breath, sing it’s songs of joy, brighten your lives with it’s brilliant hues and cast it’s blessings of earthly wonder and garden produce among you.
The earth is still your paradise. It still needs your attention. It calls you to plant a tree, to let the birds nest and to enjoy the scenic wonder of the landscape.

the new national dream

Hail, Brave hearts!

The land is vanishing before our eyes. The wealth of the nation, plundered in waste. That vast expanse of beauty, the view of wonder for the weary eyes to behold, and peaceful rest for the tired body.
The soul yearns for the quiet sounds of nature, the sweet scents, the soft underlay of ground, and the soothing bath of life sustaining waters, for cooling swims on warm summers’ days.
Oh, the land, so precious and finite. It’s allure, with it’s awesome beauty and natural wonder, compels us to venture forth, with the same inspiration to adventure, as our forefathers. The grand land. The grandeur of the land. The wealth of the nation.
Lucky are we to be the caretakers of such greatness and beauty.

http://www.visitgeorgianbay.com/
The land that has called us for centuries, to marvel at it’s wondrous creation, to fulfill the dreams of adventure, and to capture it’s beauty on film and in art. The land that we share, with each other, with the great wild and with the world.
Who dares to enter the land and plunder there? Ringing our lakes with development, unaccessable to us, to the wild and to the world. Blocking out the view, the cooling waters, the beaches and the calm. Blocking out the meditative strength of peaceful rest by a sparkling lake. Blocking out the joy of swimming in fresh, cool waters, testing your strength against a wave, playing in the sand and marveling at the aquatic life, the small fish and the shy crayfish. Learning new skills, swimming, boating and snorkeling. Spotting new birds, identifying fish, shells and plant life. The awesome lakes, a learning playground for us all.
Oh, to be the almighty human, brilliant and daring! The investment in the land was so appealing, so enticing, so alluring. To be wealthy, to be rich, to be admired! The self conscious yearning of a life, craving the charmed achievement of social success. Wealth, money, prestige! Oh, to have it all! To be the almighty human! To be the prominent, the illustrious, the awesome, awe-inspiring human!
The plunder of the lake shore denies the rest. It denies the visitor and the great wild. Go to the parks, you inferior man! The gates to this lake are closed.
But you, bravehearts, rise to a different call. The nation is spent on foreign investment, on the gain of the massive fortune of international control. The wealth of tourism, a multi-million dollar venture, lost to foreign investment.
Hotel and resorts are your calling now. The all Canadian dream of cottage life and cottage grandeur, fade into the past as the family owned resort presents the new Canadian way.
Not merely a cottage, but a hotel, a resort, a fly-in remote location. The economic gain of this nation, for the international elite, is not some small cottage, but an investment into the multi-million dollar tourist market.
Where is your hotel? Where is your investment in the future of the country? Where is your economic gain?
A cottage in the wilderness is the ideal of Canadian life. Remote and prestigious and so, so exclusive. A cut above the rest, was once a wise investment, but the real prosperity went to foreign control.
Put your families onto an estate, oh brave hearts. It can be hotels, resorts, spas. All of these, support the economic prosperity of the country. They employ thousands of people in tourism and eco-tourism, making you, oh brave heart a prestigious owner and employer, learning many skills and trades and serving the surrounding community with jobs and promoting growth with happy visitors.
Tourism is a multi-million dollar word. A hotel, or resort on that lake, instead of a cottage, provides more wealth and uses less land. It teaches more skills and provides more educational opportunities than the cottage. Sports, book keeping, accounting, cooking, management and more. You, the almighty human, become a prestigious hotelier and manager, instead of just another cottager. A hotelier, who employs many people, who provides accommodation for guests and opens the nation to the world.
A resort owner, who helps to provide tourism to the local community.
Save your wealth, oh brilliant ones. This kind of investment in the nation, is greater economic gain, than the cottage. Greater for yourselves, for the nation and for us all!

The All Canadian Dream

Hail, almighty human

Cast your worries aside and lounge in peaceful comfort and restful relaxation, at the fine escape of your choosing. An awakening of senses, and the joy of prosperity, your family vacation property has it all. Awesome human, your lifetime challenge has been achieved. You linger over a fine view of vanishing waterfront on pristine, remote lakes. Ahh! the luxury, the joy of living, the peace and quiet of natures bountiful blessing. Awesome, good earth with its tranquil places of divine landscape and meditative stillness. The great wild holds you in its palm and you rest in the comfort of the creation of the great earth.
Warm summer breezes caress your skin and cool summer waters soothe the aching heat.
Summertime bliss, summertime, prosperity and summertime escape.
The chattering family moor the boat to the dock. Another round of watersports ended for today. The lesson of summers play, to swim, to fish,to drive a boat, paddle a canoe, water ski and play at water sports.
The cottage is the all Canadian summer time dream. An escape of infinite pleasure. Luxury, rustic setting, an achievement for only the wealthy to share. A cabin in the woods, where no other human dare to dwell. The toil and strain of business enterprise, of work and perseverance, of drive and ambition, of properly funded investments, and cleverly calculated risks. Now to achieve the all time Canadian dream. A cottage.
Hail, almighty human, you have it all. Side by side accommodation on vanishing lakefront. An exchange of place, from city to country, from neighbours to neighbours. To dangle your feet from a dock into the cool water and to call this simple act, paradise!
The rolling waves change your view, thunderstorms move in from miles away, the stars shine in the heavens above and what was once a remote getaway has become a semi-forested crowded retreat, with unending views of cottages and neighbours.
A speed boat interupts the quiet paddle of your canoe and the call of the loon echoes in distant memory. A Canadian tradition, a Canadian dream, the rights of passage to the moneyed world.
Hail brave hearts, look into your mind, waters for swimming and with varieties of fishes, but no access for you. The call of the loon, the racket of geese, the sounds of serenity and the remote wild, vanishing to the play and intrusion of motorized craft and overpopulated shorelines, filled with summer homes and islands filled with people. The escape into a different suburbia, from streetscape to waterscape, from overcrowded city into overcrowded country. Farther and farther, more and more remote, more development, more noise, less privacy, less tranquility, less peace. The awesome call to the wild, hurried by rush hour traffic, for miles and hours along speeding highways. Go north, along with all of the other hurrying humans, as they vacate the city for lakeshore retreat. To campfires and sing-a-longs, to parties and play. The crowded lakes of cottage country, entice those with the funds to escape.
To the wild! To the wild! Go north, to the wild! To fulfill the fabulous calling, of the needed wild paradise, and the still secure, all Canadian dream.
