Do Well for Yourself

Hail Brave Hearts

Serenity and calm, peace and quiet.  Spend your life indoors.  The virus is still raging, but slowly it’s being controlled.  Our yearnings for  social interaction and social gatherings is high.  Our yearnings for affection and partying, for team playing and dinner parties is strong.  When will we live again?  The new normal is quiet, as we seek to bring joy into our lives through the small bubble of our existence.  Our social circle is small to non existent.

The achievements of this quiet, isolated existence varies for many.  New avenues for learning present themselves online as we enjoy more opportunities for online education. and courses to take.   Virtual tours of far away places, concerts to enjoy, athletic challenges to participate in.  Reinvent yourselves in a time of crisis, where the silence could be golden.  If the daily routine involves self motivation towards self improvement, then perhaps this is a time of reflection and self assessment.  From the cocoon to the butterfly so to speak.

We are nearly a year into this lockdown crisis state with hopes that it will have been a transformational period for most of us.  Although 2020 has been a difficult year, the potential for change in oneself could present itself in a more positive way.  Yes, it is true that our social lives change and yes it is true, that international travel is restricted.  Yes, it is true that we can’t travel to far off lands and sometimes we can’t even cross provincial borders, but is this a hardship?  How much do we value our own lands and our own backyards?  It is with great pleasure that Canada presents itself to the world, so its should be, for us to discover ourselves.  Activity abounds, even it if’s online.  A new way of living has forced itself upon us.  A new way to live and hopefully to enjoy life.

As difficult as 2020 has been, it’s provided an unusual opportunity.   The opportunity of time for many of us.  Time that would have been utilized in habitual routine, has been reinvested into other areas.  For some, intellectual interests, for others, athletic pursuits.  Time is a commodity to be spent as wisely as possible.  Time is a gift that passes whether we utilize it properly or not.  Time is a constant.  We will grow old no matter how we spend our time.  We will see years pass, whether they are fulfilled or not.  Dreams will be envisioned, dreams will be fulfilled or dreams will die.  They say, “Only time will tell.”  Put your dreams into motion, work hard on this goal.  Be flexible.    There is time to dream and a time to dare.  2020 seemed to be that kind of year.  A year of self reflection, where only you and your own mind could solve your daily issues.  You and you alone with all of this time to spend.

Dreams: Causes, types, meaning, what they are, and more (medicalnewstoday.com)

Spend the endless hours of your day.  Spend it wisely, oh great ones.  The pandemic could still be a way to success, if all of this time is put to good use and spent on a valued pursuit.  The pandemic could be an unusual success, your home, a retreat.  This time could be your salvation.  Learn to know yourself.  This crisis will pass.  May you emerge from your own cocoon  as a butterfly.

Happy Birthday to Us

Good Day Brave hearts

A Happy Canada Day to you.

Today we celebrate the birthday of this great country. A village from the forest. A dream of national identity. A work of unity of life and lifestyle in a land so vast and diverse. The land, the people, the projects, all individually styled for an outcome of diversity and praises for all of it. The great land with its majestic mountains, it’s sweeping prairie, it’s thousands of lakes, it’s forests, it’s tundra, it’s landscapes so unique and awesome. The great land, filled with great people, great places, great adventure and great belonging.

Fill your cup, with the endless opportunity of Canada! The opportunity for exploration is immense, with so much enjoy. We are the second largest country in the world and have so much to see and to discover. The valuable history of sharing and caring for each other. The widespread plains of homesteaders striving to build a country from sea to shining sea. The great north, so wild and free.

This is our Canada. A vast and brilliant home to us. A place of nurturing our spirits, of learning, of wisdom. This is the country that we made ourselves, from our skills, our intelligence, our passions, and our sense of community. We built this. We chose this. We collectively decided that this is the Canada that we want, that we love and that is our home. We made this place special to us, ourselves.

This fabulous world of the wilderness and the great wild, is home for us. We save it because we adore it. It speaks to us, to adventure, to explore, to challenge ourselves to be smart, educated, strong and daring. This great land calls us to retain ancestral roots which tie us to a past time of athletic adventure, community and ingenuity. It calls us to the present, of eco tourism, the food supply, the great cities. It calls us to our future, to retain it all, to be proud, to learn from each other and to share our knowledge with each other. It calls us. Each and every Canadian, to do our duty of care for this great nation. This great country that we call our home.

It is with great pleasure that we celebrate this birthday. 133 years of a community of people spread out over a vast countryside of unique places to live in and to visit. The differences in cultures, in heritage, in ties that bind us. We are not all the same, but we are. We are all different, but we are one. We are all diverse, but we are the same. This is how we choose to be. Individual, healthy, strong, with a courage to be culturally diverse and still be united. To live together in multicultural unity. This is our goal and one of our freedoms. Respect for each other and for the intellect that brings us peace and opportunity under a flag that flies so freely.

Happy Birthday Canada. May our dreams remain alive. May our hopes be fulfilled. May our way of life survive us. May we be filled with the glory of this great nation. Happy Birthday, Canada. May you live forever!

Canada Day, 2020

Are We Cursed?

Hail Brave hearts

It’s quiet.  The days are long and the sounds are different.  Less traffic, less chatter, fewer people.  The night is quiet.  No street noise late at night.  More rest and relaxation, more time for self reflection and self interest.  An unusual change in reality.  The business of our lives has vanished, to be replaced with long days of self isolation and social distancing.  Communication skills and life skills have changed.  We vanish into the isolation of family.

Business winds down and phone lines are still.  The rush of commercialism has changed from endless shopping to buying masks.  Social skills have become social distancing.  The latest craze is hand sanitizer. We will learn to be clean, cleaner than we’ve ever been, by simply washing our hands.  Don’t touch your face. Wear a mask.

This new dilemma is an outstanding challenge of perseverance.  We win this.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

We win this for ourselves and for the lifestyles that we covet.  We win this for our families whose affection we cherish.  We win this, as if we are fighting a war.  It’s a virus, but it’s a substantial foe.  An odd set of circumstances bring us to this awful place, our lust to see new worlds.  The insatiable curiosity of other lands, other peoples, other worlds to travel to.  A holiday, a honeymoon, a business trip, a cultural exchange, all tourism, and the fine mechanism of money.

Bring me riches, bring me gold, bring me markets, bring me wealth.  Be it imperialistic plunder, or grass roots peasantry, bring me humans by the score.  The tourist dollars go round and round, round and round, round and round, all through the town.

An unprecedented disaster occurs which brings a dreadful halt to our wealth building module.  No tourists, no money.  No money, no gain.  So much of our time and energy has been absorbed in tourism, that now, the problem arises, how do we return the wheels of fortune?  What is our plan B?  With this economic strategy falling, what brilliance will replace it?  What dollars and sense will catapult us to economic recovery?

Slowly we return to the normal world of prosperity.  Build it, oh financial geniuses, build it with magic and wizardry.   Paint the pallet black, so that the recovery is complete, oh you awesome doctors of mathematics.

Meanwhile, what we can enjoy from this pandemic, since it befalls us, is the quiet solitude of our new found wealth.  Time.  Time to be home with recipes to try, with exercise class, online courses, email, documentaries, online business, social media. Time to indulge in a hobby, a new lifestyle, a project.  Time to change and to be new.  Time to rejuvenate and to emerge from the cocoon  as a butterfly.

The recovery strategy is markets, be it foreign or domestic, but business has always been the money wheel.  There are always other strategies.  The strategy of self help and learning, of exploration within Canada, of athletics and education.  A different wealth is offered.  A wealth of time, of restriction, of poverty.  The wealth that demands that people stay home, enjoy their own place, discover their own good fortune of the new, the unusual, the uniqueness of their own land.  This is a new age of discovery, of being the tourist in your own homeland.  This is the restriction of no money, when we can’t afford international travel.  Save us!  Save us from the devil that calls this a sin.  Save us from the mind that abhors it.  The self indulgent traveler who knows their own homeland, like the maps, the parks, the novels that are written for it.  Sing to us, oh great traveler, who recognizes those place names  and can check them off their bucket list.  The growing names of unknown places, waiting for a visit.

Joy to us, for the pleasure of this compromise.  No international travel, stay home and enjoy your place.   Joy to us, for this restriction of our poverty.  It is with great pride, that we present to ourselves, our own great nation.

Our travels become close at hand, perhaps only within the province.  Lucky are we, for this gigantic misfortune.  We have it to ourselves.  All of this beauty and magnificence, that we show off to the world, is just for us right now.

It’s for us, you awesome human.  This oasis in the universe is for us.

Mother Dearest

Hail You Awesome Human

It’s a day for mothers. To remember them, to honor them and to celebrate the great joy of mothers.

The gift of comfort, of compassion and caring, the gift of time and love. The devotion of raising an offspring.  The wonder of creation and the joy of living.  Gifts.  These are gifts to us and to all of the living creatures on this magnificent planet.

And as all mothers do, it’s nurture and care.  Care or us, almighty great planet.  Care for us oh great divine.  Your powers are almighty and immense.  The spellbinding beauty, the magnificence of the creativity, the countless opportunity for learning and exploration.  Praises to you, oh great mother.  You and you alone in this cold and obscure universe.  You and you alone, so warm and fragile, so brilliant and inventive.  The fabulous great planet,  spinning its magical web of life and living, for all of us to enjoy.

The secrets of motherhood are to guide their offspring wisely.  Guide them to safety, guide them to security, help them to build a future on a strong, solid past.  The secrets of mothers is a love neverending, love eternally,  love with all of your heart.

The joy of an offspring, so tender and tiny.  A cherished blessing from God.  The pride of their accomplishments, so few and so many.  They are yours.  They are from the great divine.  They are special.  That is a child.

Mothers everywhere, large and small, human and animal, raise their offspring dutifully, no matter what they are, or what they will become.  With praises and encouragement, with devotion and protection the babies are the center of our lives.  As they grow, we delight in their play, their growth and their childhood ways.  This is the devotion of mothers, to give encouragement and praises, to support and nurture, to always be there.

In praises of mothers, great and small, this very special day for you, in recognition and celebration of joy of motherhood.   Happy Mothers Day to us all.

Hochelaga

Hail Bravehearts

It’s a fabulous notion, to start anew, with fresh ideas, community, land and skills. Exciting and enticing, to feel the fresh air, to feel freedom, adventure to call this land your home. The tingling sensation of anticipation and joy. At last, a home. It’s a long way to voyage, to come to Canada, to serve in the conquest of a voyage so rare. To build it, so live it, the adventure of the century, to dwell in the new colony, to be history.

Now venture along the St. Lawrence, with it’s turbulent waters. See the sweet little town called Quebec, but travel, just a little bit further. Another 255 kilometers to the new city of Montreal. A fabulous place, built with the dedication of the colonialist. A fine mind set on conquering a new frontier. Another test of strength and courage, but also negotiation, acceptance and peace. A chance for a new home, a new life, but sharing. To share the land with strangers who will be your neighbors, who will, in their own way, help to make the nation and the colony survive. An unusual friendship, the European and the aboriginal, but so it will be, in the commerce of trade and in the harmony of the land. Peace be with us.

From the voyages of Jacques Cartier, to the new settlers of the land, the joy of adventure is with us.

Jacques Cartier. A voyage of discovery in Canada, the search for a new land. Fabulous! To travel so far, to strive so diligently, to be courageous and educated is such fine arts as navigation, weather, geography, negotiation and more. It’s the skills of human intelligence that wins this fine race across the Atlantic Ocean.

A daring adventure filled with the unknown. A curiosity that must be resolved, the question of what’s out there? Bring back gold, riches and spices. Find a way to the orient! Adventure, oh braves ones, out to the sea, into the winter and to the dangers that it brings. Rest in the camp, die in the land, but bring back gold, riches and spices. Find the path to Asia! Be fantastic, be noble, be brave, be successful be obedient. Bring back gold!

It’s a brave new world, filled with brave new people who must be met and communicated with. It is with hard work and toil, that this endevour pays off so well. The people are kind. Joy be with us! Good luck and good fortune have found the explorers as they land on these shores among strangers who are congenial, or intended to be.

October 2, 1535 was a grand day, for a great nation. The expedition lands in Hochelaga an Iroquois village which will become part of the modern city of Montreal. Share the joy, share the harvest, share the land, meet the people, be our friends. Come, Jacques Cartier, eat with us, talk to us. Don’t be strangers. But the discourse lasted only a few hours before the Europeans returned to the camp upstream, after naming the hill behind Hochelaga, Mont Royal.

Foiled again! The wintry blasts of icy cold are too much of a burden to bear. By more good fortune, the camping party is saved from scurvy, which did claim 25 lives during the winter.

Come, oh fine humans, drink the Iroquois tea of white pine needles, to cure your scurvy and to save your lives. Drink to your good health, literally.

When spring finally came, in the merry month of May, the beleagured group of adventurers return to France with positive reports of a river to the west. The pathway to Asia, to riches, spices and gold, lay through the continent, in the land called Canada.

It’s Birthing Season

It’s Birthing Season

Hail, all you Bravehearts

The spring magic is bursting, it’s flames fill the air, heady with perfume, the fragrance is everywhere.  Colours of rainbows, the infraction of light, darting licks of sprouting things, the springtime comes to life.  Brilliance of beauty, the delight of newborn lives, nesting calls of symphony, the choir of our lives.  Behold the wondrous species, they all have missions here, to fill our world with Earthly praise, to a planet we  hold most dear.  The budding trees are blooming now, the bees are hard at work, for pollen, nectar and honey is the plan of natures work.  A stork will bring the babies, a notion so absurd, the animal chain of learning pain, brings babies from the woods. It’s nests and eggs that hatch the young, it’s thickets, where they lay.  That overrated stork lost out, to the trees and forest at play.

Lovely splendor, lovely birth, the drama of the fall, has an outcome so desirable, it’s babies after all.  Little adorable ones, needing so much attention.  Stop!  Don’t miss that chance, to capture them on camera.  The wildlife are beaming, they know now what to do.  Stand by the roadside in the Parks and wave at the calamity of you know who.

An adventure for this praiseworthy day, a photo or several, or two, of babies coming to join us, in this hinterland of guess who.  Nature may be difficult, it’s predator and prey, but come into the world of babies, and it protection and play.  Lovely little ones, so cute and soft and adored, we all become their mothers, just to nurture a world to be explored.  They’re fabulous and new, they shriek at us, coo coo! We all come a running with baby food.  The spring and the parenting, the planning for next year.  Raise those babies wisely, they represent the herd!  No dowdy ones, no unmatched socks, put on your sleek new coat.  You are a representative of a genetic stock to rival any goat. Survival of the fittest is the game all parents play.  When babies are born and pride is given to a new cast of characters today.

The love and devotion of springtime happiness, is turned to a summer of responsible parenting togetherness.   Chattering with pride, they show off their newborn delight.  Just look at little elk calf there, he’s blossoming with intellectual might.

The fish eggs are hatching, the frogs sing with all their might.  A lovely day on planet Earth, fills their little lungs with a chorus of pond song, after dinner, choir serenade delight.

The sounds of the season are love and loving sounds, as the great gifted planet, spins it’s eternity  of  marvel all around.  All creation, all for good, a special aptitude, the great gifted planet, spins it all just for you.  Just for you, oh little one, just for you to share, the fabulous stretch of wisdom, greets you everywhere.   This gifted, great planet, in it’s protected, universal space, is a wealth of brilliant life form abundance, for everyone, even the human race.  Welcome and acceptance, treat it all with care, for this great, ingenious planet, can concoct new species, if it’s dared.  The life forms are brilliant, it’s beauty and adored, the planet exudes it’s wealth of creation for all of us to explore.

Rise and shine, it’s springtime, so go out and greet the day.  For all of us, are from planetary dust, just go out and play.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day

Hail Bravehearts

With thanks, we give praises to this special day.  To the finest, the most wonderful, the dreamiest and the most courageous.  Thanks to all of you, you special mothers. This is the day to celebrate you. Beautiful you.  Oh wonderful you.

The patches on my jeans, the warm woolly sweater, the cozy knit blanket, the floral arrangement and the pie.  I just love pie!  Fresh berries from the garden, homemade jam and apple pie, cookies in the cookie jar, and roast beef in the oven.  The smells of home and cooking, perfume is in the air.  We always know where mother is, her hand is everywhere.

Shops full of shopping, restaurants galore, our home and closets, rival those, with skills we all adore.  Homemade ornaments for the Christmas tree, new recipes to try.  Our budget is the windfall of dollars set aside.  The beauticians all know us, we frequent their abode, to cut and curl and streak our hair, for parties, gatherings and potlucks for the road.  Glamour is our style, we wear the trendiest designs.  Our look is always current, from our latest shopping spree.  We look so bedazzling, we rival the Christmas tree.

Polished nails and body wraps, massage and yoga tights.  Our bodies are our temples, fit, sleek and just right.  No attitude of worry,  fret or fear to linger.  We always are most charming, with smiles, hugs and cheer.  Be proud of us, we are mighty, the hand that rocks the cradle.  Great gifts to those we love, are given, as much as we are able.  To raise a child is easy, just always look your best.  A child is a delight to us, from heaven, the stork, or wherever babies come from.  Just make them all some pie, serve them some desert, after all, you are their mother, you always know best.

Little einstein is a wonder child, after all, he comes from you.  The family fortune just increased, with achievements, success and medals.  Keeping spirits up and enthusiasm high, is just another moment.  Sweet encouragement spills from your lips as easy as breathing a name.

The sun will shine, the birds will sing, the day will bring you flowers, for all of us have just one thing in common, we all have come from mothers.  The day grows long, the life is dear, it’s poetry in motion.  To watch or mothers make our beds and tuck us under the covers.  Sweet dreams of childhood, blessings dear, those days in hug wrapped comfort.  To be spoiled with love and kindness, is to have a mother.

Joy is the word, on this special day.  For kindness, love and giving, is the way, mothers earn a living.  Blessings are the children, they are always joy and pride.  A family with good intentions, will stay together and survive.  A mother is a beauty, she smiles and welcomes us home.  This comforting place of human space, is the nurturing place called home.

The Everlasting Day

The Everlasting Day

Hail Almighty Ones

Dreams of this day, this long, everlasting day.  Dreams of adventure, of skills tested wisely, of companionship and social life, of friends and togetherness.  Plan for this day, it’s fleeting window of opportunity.  Plan for each moment, for this day, as all days, are special ones.

Rise early, the sun shines already, calling you to awake from slumber. Cast off your sleepy head and don your wakefulness, for the sun shines, the birds sing and your adventure is about to begin.  You’ll test your skills with the companionship of friends, in games of athletic competition.  You’ll read your novels, knit your sweaters, stroll through countysides, swim in pools.  You’ll choose your aptitude and share with those special people who’s company you enjoy.  This is your own, everlasting day.  A day that heals wounds, that relieves suffering, that smiles and hugs and keeps you warm.  This is the day to relax, to enjoy, to dwell longer, to live better, to laugh and to learn, to love and to chatter.  This is that special, endless day.  A day of exchange, to try recipes, to learn new skills together and to try one of your favourite things.  This is your planned adventure, to last the whole day long.  To sing and be happy, to love the life your given.  This day won’t really end, it just gets longer.  Longer into the evening, with food to share and stories to tell, that strengthen the bonds between us.   Take the time to plan the adventure of this day, to share stories and plan gatherings, sharing your dinner and safely, exchanging knowledge.   What you’ve learned, what you’ve seen, what you’ve accomplished with this day.

To stroll in the forest, climb a new peak, share your dinner together, wind up at someone’s place.  To get to know each other more thoroughly, to spend the time, to escape into togetherness, into freedom and relaxation.  These special days are forever, when time passes so slowly, when spirits soar and encouragement cheers you on.  These are friendship days of constant companionship, constant togetherness, constant affirmation of your life.  These special days are as often as possible, not holidays, but days of rest.

Fill your life with special days, to warm your heart, fill your world friendship and to live with joy.
