The world awaits the dawning of the age of discovery.  Any age. Any time.  Brilliant mankind who’s inspiration is boundless, whose pursuits are limitless, whose energy is constant.  The imagination, the intelligence, the inspiration, the courage.  Nothing surpasses brilliant humankind.

The age of discovery presents itself in the unchartered waters of the North Atlantic Ocean.  Seafarers in worthy, well constructed craft voyaged for adventure, to discover, to appease their Gods of plenty.  Nothing is too great for this stalwart human, no challenge will beat them, no obstruction will stop them, only miracles and salvation will present themselves, only their lives of bold dignity will last.

Brilliant mankind, oh stalwart being, so bold and daring.  The Gods demand your might and dutiful acceptance of onward, northward passage.  To new lands, oh dauntless human, to new conquest, new soil, new discovery.  Oh, the immense mind of the mortal man, with so much daring.  To set sail for life unknown, to travel to destinations unpredicted.  To travel, travel, travel, to where?  Where do you go?  Oh, awesome human?  Where does your craft take you?

By fortunate miracles the landmass becomes visable.  Hail, mankind for a safe landing, for the discovery of an island so remote in the North Atlantic.  Brilliant mankind for the colonization of a land so remote.  This mighty island of glaciers and geothermal activity.  Even in those ancient days of yore, still to call it Iceland.  The land of unconquered beauty, with  no lasting settlement  there, only, perhaps the dutiful monks of Celtic origin, from Ireland, on seasonal migration.   To dare to be the inhabitant, the adventurer, the colonialist.  The  inspired mind of a willful, bold and courageous mind whose challenge on the planet, was to discover.

Hail, you mighty Norse man from the Scandinavian lands, who also took the British with you on your grand voyages of worldly conquest.  This proves the might of a seafaring nation.  The conquest of the North was yours.  The hundreds of  years of seafaring discovery, of travels in the far northerly reaches of the planet.  This was the home to the Viking.  The seas were plenty, the harvest was abundant, the skills were superior,  the trade was grand.

The life of the courageous conquerer, the adventurer.  To set sail with the inhabitants of a new land, to create a colony of humans which far surpasses the might and will of average.  The dauntless human, who goes where no one else has gone before.

Iceland.  Appropriately named for the great land mass that it is.   Iceland!  With glaciers and snow mass.  This wonderfully beautiful place.  This awesome grandeur of ice and snow.  The wild land, still abundant with life and plenty.

Hail, you almighty, ancient human.  You bold and daring, courageous human.  For life everlasting.  To live, only for this day, for this day and only for this day, always.

The Viking

  Hail Mankind.  This beautiful, bright day is upon us.

The shrouded mystery of centuries old man, sheds light on the brilliant aptitudes that surround us.  Where does he come from?  That leader of man. The compelling courage that draws us to the adventure, too difficult to be dared.  All faith and acceptance of an inspired human who has an unusual calling.  Come!  He becons and they rise with courage.  The challenge is worthwhile.  Yes, they will pursue the dream and live and die the dream, for only dreams are the reality of the adventurer.

Come, to the far off land and travel they did.  The voyage of discovery took them to Iceland, where their colony lasted.  It took them to Greenland where their colony lasted as well and it took them to the shores of Canada, where they stayed for a short few years then left.  The 300 years of Viking exploration and discovery, ended with a distraction of a new influence that changed their lives.  No longer the raiding parties of fierce combatants, they now settled into a quiet existence of a different mankind. No more the plunder, the destruction, the victorious wars.  No more the seafaring exploits to new lands and new promise.  No more the grand adventure to the continent of the Americas.  Now, the world has changed and the aggressive raiding war parties vanished.

Who were you, almighty man, with superior technology.  The navigational skills, the shipbuilding the technologies, the skills, the passion and the courage.  The life of these daring adventurer were mainly farmers.  After centuries of dauntless adventure, they returned to their homeland and the soil.

A new lord reigned and he commanded a different presence.  The serene life of tranquility and abundance from a god of a different countenance.  No more the war faring indulgence and exploits of courage.  Now, a different kind of courage.

It would be 400 years before the Europeans voyaged across the ocean again.

Still, in the minds of the voyageur, there is the skilled shipbuilder of the past.  The present casts its eyes on the whole world and travels the seas once more.  The adventure is still the calling, but the  craft and character has changed.  Now the plunder is in the eye of the beholder, in cameras and paintings and craft.  The shipbuilder of the past has become the streamliner of the present.  From travelling with slaves to sailing with dignitaries the ocean liner is now the fleet of the present human.

From ancient skills to modern vessels this ancient man has somehow remained.  The ocean still calls them, the high seas are still their home.  Come with us, they call us, be our guests.  Welcome.

Good morning all you awesome beings.  It’s another day of creation and grandeur.  Another day of bold inspirations and  undertakings.

Hear the call, as the earth awakens.  It becons us.  Rise, mankind, your call to another fabulous day.

Here, sighs the great planet, as another morning approaches, another sun climbs into the sky, another day unfolds before us.  Here, almighty human, is another day, for you.  For your quest, for your courage, for your heart, for your adventure.  Inspired human, with such magnificent aptitude, leadership, knowledge, strength and skills.  You, who rise above the rest and say, follow me, follow me, follow me to the ends of the earth, to the end of time. Oh mortal man, with mortal life, follow me into the unknown.  Follow me into dread and peril.  Follow me into dark and danger.  Follow me, for I am the leader and you are my dutiful subjects.  Follow me.

Their greatly skilled leader chose a formidable route, through the high seas to lands of unpromising abundance.  Weather, snow, hardship and toil.  The lands were harsh, the landscape difficult, the weather unbearable, the oceans high and tumultuous, wind, current, rain.  Still to travel on, to voyage of discovery, to tales of heroic triumph, to be the unbeatable foe.  The quest was immense, the distance overwhelming, the hero an uncanny mortal man.

We’ll colonize here, demands the mighty leader and the deathly, dread of the dutiful subjects acknowledge their plight.  Yes, they will stay.  In this unknown place, their fate is sealed.

For a few spectacular years they foraged in the forest, built their small community, reaped a harvest and stayed in the strange, far off land of shrouded mystery.  Yes, these stalwarts survived.  The first landing, the first colony, the first nation to set foot on the land of plenty.  The colonization was successful.  They survived the  winter and the warm, vibrant summer.  They proved their strength, their superiority, their skills and their might.  These early inhabitants from the north sea proved their creative genius, their will to survive, their superior strength of mind and body.  They felt the swell of pride in their chests, the song of glory in their hearts.  Victory!  The thrill of achievement.  They were the almighty man!  The courageous adventurer, the indomitable foe!.

And then they left.

Home, cries the heart.  Home cries the soul.  Home cries the spirit and with the homesick heart of man, came the compelling urge to abandon.  They left.

400 years would pass before another from their continent would traverse the high seas to these far off lands.  The year is 1000 AD.  The people were farmers from the Scandinavian countries.  Farmers, who dared to be sailors.

Without their heroic leader, they no longer had the desire or the inclination to set their sights on destinies unknown.  No longer the urge to explore uncharted waters, to discover great continents.  No longer the will or the drive to mount an expedition of men to pursue the call to adventure.

Now, they were quiet.  The gift of that great spirit of man that moved them to acts of tremendous courage had parted.  They waited in quiet anticipation for another.  Who would lead them on?  Their memories of grandeur moved them.  Dare we?  Should we?  A leader was needed.  Their patience was uneasy.  The adventure was necessary.  A new leader was needed,  but the leader didn’t come.

Good Day, You Awesome Human

Are you ready for this day?  This day is the start of the adventure of your life.  Look into your mind, almighty human, your destiny awaits you there.  An image will form, that presents itself to you.  This is your guide.  It will lead you in the direction of your calling.  Follow your guide.  Your guide will put you in the place, in the field of study and in your correct aptitude.  Your own brilliant mind will show you the way.  Follow.  This is your path, your calling.  This is your life.

Today is a day for the joy of living.  Stretch your legs and follow your path.  It calls to you endlessly.  Listen! calls your own brilliant mind.  I will show you the way.

Since the dawn of man, experts have arisen amongst us.  They’ve always known where their destiny lies, they’ve always followed a course somehow set in their minds, they’ve always known what to choose, where their place is, what environment to seek, which people to seek out, what  courses to take.   They take initiative and make their own decisions.  They follow that inner path that is so compelling.  It draws them.  It pulls them to achieve.  Listen to that call, it resides in your mind.

The dauntless human that carved his way through the landscape of this land, was called to adventure.  The life of the daring pioneer, who could surpass the obstacles of weather, crop failure, isolation, weakness and poor health.  A strong and mighty human, with will and courage.  This was the call to the new world.  It was a call of passion.  Come.  almighty human!  Come, you daring adventurer!

And come they did.  To the land of plenty.  A promise of sorts.  Land and prosperity.  Freedom.   This will be your great reward.  A whole new world, a whole new life, a new beginning.  Come, brilliant mankind, come to the adventure of your life.

The land was immense.  The forests, virtually untouched.  A rugged and sparsely populated land with dangers yet unknown.  The place was isolated, so, so very far from home.  Far from civilization as they knew it, far from friends, family, comfort, care.  Far away in a time of its own.  A far off place.  A proven point, now mute.  Who, but the most daring would set foot on this unknown land?

Come into the forest, calls the wild.  The mighty adventurer came ashore.

The oceans were filled with fishes.  Each cast of the nets were laden with fish.  Food.  Food for the hungry back home.  The land was filled with wildlife unheard of and previously unseen.  Meat and pelts  for markets back  home.  Home.  The lonely hearts of that daring man, turned their gaze back to the sea.  Home.  The strength of their own homeland compelled them and they re boarded their ships and sailed for  home.

Their journey of a lifetime left its mark on their brilliant minds.  Next time.  The land called to them, come again and in their minds they heard a voice.  Next time.  A relationships was near at hand between the mighty adventurer and the new, immense land.

Congratulations, you mighty human, this  is the day for the great planet Earth.   This is a day to celebrate the amazing powers of the planet.  A day for every living organism, every molecule, each plant, each animal, each species.  The great planet Earth, the wondrous creator presents it all.  All life forms belong to the great, good Earth and the great, good Earth continues to place life forms on the planet.  Fabulous good Earth with the creation of life and the mineral wealth as well.  Fabulous great Earth for biological diversity.

On this planet thrives a wealth of landscape, wildlife, plant life, sea life and human life.  On this planet  thrives a meca of diverse life forms of never ending wonder.  Into the brilliant past we go to discover the great days of dinosaurs.  Evolution unfolds with the passing of time.  How much time to discover the immense creation of the Earth.  How much time for the evolution of all species and the evolution of man.  The fabulous, great planet proves all.

Since time began, the Earth covers it’s surfaces with life.  All kinds of life.  All different environments, for each ecosystem to thrive in.  All kinds of different species, since the dawn of life began.

The lengthy age of dinosaur was a creation of an age of biodiversity by far different from what the planet provides today.  The lush, warm environment that kept the reptile population growing and expanding was by far a different world than the wonder of creation that the Earth is today.  The dinosaur era lasted for millions of years.  When the dinosaur ruled the Earth it had no opponents.

Listen mankind to the heart of the Earth, it breathes and beats so softly.  Millions of years for the immense reptile, to perish by climatic changes, ice age, flood, dropping temperatures.  What lived past that survives to the next millennium.  Evolution changes our structure and our minds.  We are no longer the ice age man, with caves to hide in.  Now mankind steps onto the planet with skills, tools and more aptitude.

The world changed.   A sea dried and its life forms perished.  The  shifting, upheaval of ground altered the direction of rivers, created new plateaus, new plains, new mountains.  The temperature dropped and ice formed.

Brilliant mankind, breathes the great planet,  the story of creation has been told.  What if life comes before the dinosaurs, that is a mystery to you.  The great planet breathes and life springs forth, regardless….regardless.

Now  the planet sings with life everlasting.  The immense array of beauty and intelligence.  The pond sings, the evening sings, the skies sing, the oceans sing.  They sing the song of perpetual life.  They sing the song of the joy of living.  These many million years of bountiful life.

Oh, great, good Earth, with the powers of biodiversity, we hear you.  We see the joy and beauty of your creation.  Lucky are we to be the almighty human.  To find, to explore, to investigate, to revel in the beauty, the luxury, the awesome, the divine.

Here, almighty human, sighs the great planet.  These are the days of the almighty human.

From the eye of the artist, behold the splendor of the Earth.  The fabulous landscape, the brilliant colour, the diverse life forms.  All of the luxury of the world presented in a creative way, the impression of beauty by the skilled aptitude.  Skills in painting, skills in fabric, skills in woodworking, skills in colour, design, creativity.  The human mind aspires to create beauty, to achieve luxury, to behold and to be acknowledged for skills.  The  skill creates the beauty, the luxury.  The eye beholds the wonder of the earth and the skillful aptitude of the creative mind produces yet another inspired gift.  Be it craft, art, craftsmanship.

Mankind seeks dyes and paints from nature to reproduce the fabulous colour portrayed in his environment.  Adornment is essential.  Paint for faces, inks for tatoos

From time immortal, when the human was new, they communicated through art.  A hunting scene , a family group, a dwelling, a story.  History left behind for us to catch a view of the life of early man.  A man adapted to the land, to the gifts of the earth.  A man who was daring, skillful and adept at survival.  The human, who also knew leisure and how to devote their time to luxury.

A fabulous fur coat, a outfit made of skins. baskets made of reeds and sweet grass, headdresses  of feathers, baskets adorned with quills and moose hair tufted embroidery.  Lavish possessions from the earth.  The obvious life with all of this luxury comes from time.  A people who have plenty and who have time to devote to art.

Since 800 BC the Huron people farmed.  No longer tied to nomadic lifestyles, mankind now has settlements, community, harvest and time.  Time for inventions, time to sew, time to play, time to make canoes.  They had time to enjoy being human and time to pursue all aptitudes.  Time to sing, make an instrument, devote to sport, worship and cherish.  Time to form a culture, a lifestyle, cook and create.

The mind of the skilled cook becomes a chef, a skilled herbologist becomes medicine, a skilled sportsman becomes games, hunting and canoeing.  The people of the Americas were inspired by the landscape that surrounds them.  Great works of art depicting the wildlife they encountered.  Quillwork from porcupine quills that adorned baskets.  Later, beadwork became prevalent because it was easier to work with and more supple.  It could be incorporated into clothing, moccasins, purses, coats, headdresses and tools.  A simple small object with so much importance.  Beads replaced quills in some usage because it is more versatile.

What is art, but an expression of ourselves.  The artwork of our nations ancestors depicts a  human with time to enjoy the bountiful beauty of the Earth.

All of mankind pursues their aptitudes to the highest attainable level.  Ever into the past, the  highest attainable level  of thinking, for that brilliant human.  Ever into the future.   All across the world the human mind aspires to heights yet unaccomplished, feats dared but not tried.  The human pursues the dauntless challenge of courage.

Endangered Species Day

Good morning, oh brilliant one.

This day is not a gesture, not a complacent whim of hope.  This day, May 17th is a day for the celebration of the creative powers of the Earth.  A day to notice and to communicate the awesome gift of the planet.

Fabulous planet, full of life and energy.  Ever creating, ever nurturing, always pursuing the dauntless challenge of filling the void with life, all life.  The cherished great planet fills all of its surfaces with life and places each life form in accordance with the environment that it belongs to.  The environment that it protects.

The national day for endangered species speaks to the topics of the health of the planet.  Why are they dying?  The planet needs what it creates to survive, almighty man and the planet creates an abundance of plant and animal life for the survival of all life on the planet.  Each and every species was created to survive.  The cunning specialist who’s adaptability places them in extreme conditions.  The constant cold, the constant heat, the constant wind, the constant rain, the snow, the perils of weather, habitat loss, hunger, predation and more.  Only the skillful creature, whose adaptability is strong will survive.

But is that all we are?  Survival of the fittest.  As the world changes, the need for our compassion increases.  As the forests shrink, so does our own human habitat.  Less air, less oxygen.  As these animals decline, so does the health of the planet.  How many environmental diseases spring up due to polluted waters, polluted air, less oxygen, more waste.

The natural world is a vital, healthy world.  A world full of drama as each being acts out its own role in creation.  Almighty human, where are we?

We are far beyond acting out our role in survival, but not beyond the perils of endangering ourselves.  Good health fails us as we struggle against pesticides, insecticides, emissions.  We are the mighty ones, we are in control.  The plight of the planet presents itself  in the peril of the endangered life forms.  It can’t replenish them as fast as they fail.

Another animal who suffers starvation due to habitat loss, another animal who won’t mate and reproduce due to hunger.  Another forest gone another waterway polluted.

Almighty human, may the life force always shine in you.  May you be eternally blessed with the peaceful mind, the courageous spirit, the strong body, the intense will and the intuitive aptitude that has always given you skills,  wisdom and knowledge.

Brilliant mankind, may you always view this amazing great planet Earth as the cherished home of the creations of the Earth.  This unsurpassed globe of thriving lifeforms, always creating, always nurturing, always preserving.  The magnificent planet creates its own life forms with specialized characteristics for their own survival.  It creates landscapes and environments for the habitation of life.  All life.

The earth has created life forms to cover all of it’s surfaces.  It creates  an immense variety of diverse life, each specially adapted for its own unique survival.  Life thrives through the layers of soil, on the floors of rivers, lakes and oceans, in the air and on the ground.  The amazing planet with boundless energy, continually produces life of all kinds.  Each and every one of these beings is a specialist of survival in its own territory.  It knows what to eat to remain healthy, it knows where to live to be safe.

The specialist survives and thrives in the environments that the earth creates.  The diverse landscapes create warmth, water, weather and the life forms that dwell there are adapted to the richness provided by the planet.  The whole world is filled with life.  It’s beauty surrounds us.

Amazing human, with such surprising ability.  The immense mind that continually unravels the secrets of the earth, the stars, the solar system and the universe.  Amazing human, whose aptitudes makes our lives easy.  Who lives with comfort, compassion, daring, courage, curiosity and adventure.  Brilliant mankind, who seeks to reinvent ourselves, from tiny molecules to recreating limbs.  All inspiration comes from the Almighty.

Almighty human, for all of the souls that were saved from starvation, from poverty, from freezing cold and biting wind, from suffering.   For all of the flooding rivers forged and the avalanche chutes crossed so carefully.   You were saved!

Mothers

In celebration of the day of creation, a day for mothers.

What do we call you, oh wise one?  Where all of life comes from.  Do we call you mother Earth?  All of creation comes from your awesome powers.  The power to create, to bring life to the planet, to nurture and care. From the tiny seed of creation to the full magnificent adult, nurture and care.

The mothers responsibility is to nurture, to create, to protect, to love and to  care for the mortal life that it creates.  It’s a mother to us all.

The great creative force that produces life is a wonder, an inspiration, a blessing.  It is Awe!  To be so immense that life itself is the reason for its existence.  The existence of creation, of life.

The force of the great planet produces life in abundance and variety all throughout its landscapes.  It produces life and adapts life for existence in harsh landscapes and in bountiful, beautiful landscapes.  It produces life at the extremes of the planet, the cold far poles, the deep depths of the oceans, the high towering alpine.  All of creation must be inhabited somehow.  By a plant, an insect, an animal, a fish, a reptile, a human.  All of the Earth is covered with life forms.  If we can’t live there, we still go there.

Awesome planet, the seed of creation is yours.  Natural discovery can’t surpass you.  Exploration of all aptitudes can’t unravel the mighty, mysterious spark that ignites the seed and takes it from a sterile isolated self to a fertilized explosion of being.  A life!  Whatever it is.  As much as humanity delves into the mystery of creation, that spark is still the accepted unexplained.  Life itself is the accepted unexplained.

We, the mighty human are your creation.   The great planet Earth produces life according to the needs of the planet.  It needs all of its creation, like all mothers need all of their children.  All of the diverse ecosystems, all of the diverse climate, all of the diverse waterways, landscapes, animal life, plant life, airways, minerals and resources.  The great planet Earth produced it all and the great planet Earth needs it all in order to survive.

Unsurpassed human, the almighty man, on this great day of creation, praises!

Praises to the life giving force of creation, to the soul of mankind, to the immense aptitudes of brilliant minds and logical thinking.  Praises for life everlasting and to the eternal well being of the planet.  Save yourselves, oh  awesome human.  Treat your mother with care.  She can’t live without you.

Her neighbour has the same amount of land. On this plot he houses seven pigs, one boar and six sows for regular pig production. Usually there are 16 maturing pigs, 16 young pigs and 16 piglets at a time. In the first year, they produce 48 piglets which he will raise large enough to provide meat for himself and some to sell. He has a smoke house for making ham and bacon, so his product is highly valued and he easily sustains himself.
The hides are tanned for leather. He also has a garden and an orchard. His trees are four crabapple, a mountain ash and a chokecherry. He puts in a hedge of raspberry and plants rhubarb, potato, corn for flour and pig food and other root vegetables. He will easily survive. There is enough fruit for pies, jam and pemican ( if needed) He will also trade with his neighbours some spun wool for smoked meat. All of this on a small plot of land 100’x100′.
The next property is a gardener. He puts in his crops of potato and other vegetables. He turns most of his property into a vegetable garden. He has to have his sheep, goat and chickens to survive, but they are kept in a small pen behind his house. He starts vegetables indoors and plants in containers, as well to add to his yield. There are zuccini, pumpkin and squash. He also plants lavendar and roses and starts a soap production. He purchases a still to make purfumes.
The next property is a goatherd. He has six goats on his land. His primary purpose is dairy. The goats provide milk for cheese, cottage cheese, yogourt, butter, milk and ice cream. He plants currants, raspberry, blueberry, saskatoon and oregano, savory, dill, mint ,thyme, sage and chives. He needs the berries to flavour his yogourt and ice cream and spice to flavour his cheese. He has plenty for trade and sale.
All of this without a tractor or a rotatiller.

There is now a growing trend to plant gardens in small garden plots, provided by the community. More and more people are becoming aware of the need for fresh, organic produce to help them survive. Planting and growing gardens has intrinsic rewards, as well as the obvious reward of the food production. The city of Hamilton, Ontario has set aside garden plots for decades, for those garden enthusiasts who don’t have land of their own.
